Take your running off road with our Trail Half Marathon Training Program. This is a 12 week program designed in, partnership with Coach Brian Boher from Without Limits, to teach you trail running techniques and to get you race ready for the inaugural Carolina Beach State Park Half Marathon. The program is designed to prepare runners for this endurance event; whether a seasoned runner, looking to meet a new performance goal, or a first time half marathoner, this program will help achieve your goals. This program will educate on endurance training principles, hydration and nutrition techniques, body awareness, pacing, and trail running tactics. Athletes looking to train for this half marathon distance should be able to walk, run/walk or run 4 miles.
The Program meets every other Saturday starting October 14th with optional Wednesday meet ups on certain designated weeks. The Saturday workouts will last anywhere from 1-3 hours as we increase our mileage. The optional weekday runs will last roughly 1 hour and will require a headlamp or handheld light as the trails will be dark by the time we run. In addition to the workouts there are educational clinics, newsletters keeping you up to date, on-site physical therapists through Lifeforce Physical Therapy, nutrition tips, and expert coaching/mentoring to help inspire and motivate you on this training journey. INFORMATION SESSION: Thursday, September 28th at 6:45pm at Fleet Feet Sports
START DATE: Wednesday, October 11th at 6:00pm
PRACTICE DAYS:
- Every other Wednesday at 6:00 pm at various locations - running workout
- Every other Saturday (starting October 14th) at 7:00 am at various trail locations - long run day
